Original documentary filmmaker Albert Maysles and Tony Award-nominated lyricist Michael Korie are part of the Nov. 20 installment of Justin Sayre's The Meeting*, celebrating the iconic film "Grey Gardens," at 54 Below.
Maysles, who captured the 1975 film "Grey Gardens," and Korie, the lyricist of the 2006 Broadway musical based on the cult classic about the Beale women, are part of a special Q&A session during the 9:30 PM evening that also features performances by KT Sullivan, Colleen McHugh and Danielle Grabianowksi.
The evening centers on the documentary film, as well as the Tony Award-nominated musical adaptation by Korie, Scott Frankel and Doug Wright. Tracy Stark serves as music director.
The Meeting* is a monthly "gay romp through politics (sexual and otherwise), social news, music, comedy skits, and other important life-changing information." The gay variety show dedicates each installment to a different icon.
Upcoming sessions of The Meeting* include the annual Holiday Spectacular (Dec. 18).
The Meeting* is produced by and Dan Fortune and Adam J. Rosen.
