Co-founded by Lauper, the True Colors Fund aims to "bring awareness about and bring an end to gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender youth homelessness, and to inspire everyone, especially straight people, to become active participants in the advancement of equality for all."

"I am really excited that the True Colors Fund and my Kinky Boots family will be resurrecting the True Colors Cabaret for this special one-night only show," Lauper said in a previous statement. "The message of Kinky Boots and the work of the True Colors Fund is synonymous. 'You change the world when you change your mind.' Through a great night of music, we will continue our work to change those minds and ensure that gay and transgender homeless youth get the help that they deserve."
