Award-Winning Director Peter Brook Will Be Part of TimesTalks Event

The New York Times' "TimesTalks" series will feature Sir Peter Brook in conversation with deputy arts editor Dan Wakin Jan. 30, 2014, at 6:30 PM at the TimesCenter, located at 242 West 41st Street in Manhattan.



The talk highlights the U.S. premiere of "The Tightrope," a new documentary about Brook's work, which will open Jan. 31 at the Film Society of Lincoln Center.

Here's how the event is billed: "Hear the world's most renowned director of our time talk about his transformative acting exercise evolved over decades of experimentation and practice, called the Tightrope, and about his Tony, Olivier and Emmy Award-winning work in London’s West End and on Broadway."

Brook has directed theatre, film and opera. His Broadway work includes A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Visit and The Persecution and Assassination of Jean-Paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum of Charenton Under the Direction of the Marquis de Sade. His screen credits include "The Tragedy of Hamlet," "Meetings with Remarkable Men" and "Lord of the Flies."
