Ratings for the Annual Kennedy Center Honors — which, this year, celebrated opera singer Martina Arroyo; pianist, keyboardist, bandleader and composer Herbie Hancock; pianist, singer and songwriter Billy Joel; actress Shirley MacLaine; and musician and songwriter Carlos Santana — hit an all-time low, according to Deadline.com.
According to Deadline.com, the 36th annual ceremony, which was broadcast on CBS Dec. 29 at 9 PM ET, drew a 0.9 demo rating — down 36 percent from last year when it aired on a Wednesday (as opposed to this year's timeslot, competing with Sunday Night Football).
Produced by George Stevens, Jr. and Michael Stevens, the Dec. 8 evening at The Kennedy Center Opera House featured performers from New York, Hollywood and the arts capitals of the world. Seated with the President of the United States and Mrs. Obama, the Honorees accepted the thanks of their peers through performances and tributes.
You're invited to spend an evening filled with personal tales of difficult choices, bad breaks, worse men and some of the most glorious songs ever written. It's an intimate evening, up close with a legend.
