Lauren Samuels will join the previously announced Louise Dearman in the world premiere of Water Babies, a new musical inspired by Charles Kingsley's novel, that will begin performances April 24, prior to an official opening May 6, at the U.K.'s Curve Leicester for a run through May 17.

Featuring music by Chris Egan and book and lyrics by Ed Curtis (who also directs) and Guy Jones, it is being produced by Peter Shaw and Joanna Cecil for Water Babies Musical UK Limited, with Tristan Baker as executive producer.

Samuels previously appeared at Curve when she made her professional debut there as Wendy in Peter Pan the Musical. A finalist in Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Over the Rainbow" BBC Television search for a Dorothy to star in The Wizard of Oz, she made her West End debut as Sandy in Grease at the Piccadilly Theatre, and subsequently starred as Scaramouche in We Will Rock You at the West End's Dominion Theatre and on its 10th Anniversary World Arena Tour.

In the show, Tom, an orphaned teenager, is framed for a crime he didn’t commit. In a desperate attempt to escape capture he is trapped on the edge of a waterfall. His only choice is to jump. Awakening in the depths of the ocean he encounters the mysterious Mrs D, and a whole new world of enchantment, danger and adventure. Desperate to get back to the girl he loves Tom must brave underwater challenges in a world beyond his wildest imagination. Together with the unlikeliest of friends he embarks on a quest to find a way back to land. However he soon finds it's not just his fate he holds in his hands, but also that of the mysterious and elusive gang of Water Babies.
