The evening, set to begin at 11:30 PM, also features Jonathan Cobrda. DeBose played Mary Wilson in Motown and understudied the role of Diana Ross — originated by Tony Award nominee LeKae, who was recently diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Read the Playbill interview with LeKae here.
"I could think of no better way to support Valisia then to donate to an organization that she's found helpful during her fight with ovarian cancer," DeBose previously told Playbill.com. "I also think there is great importance for women of all ages, about being proactive with your health so that you can hopefully 'type yourself out' and lower your risk of breast and ovarian cancer. You are never too young to take your health seriously."
A portion of proceeds from the concert benefit Bright Pink, a non-profit organization that focuses on the risk reduction and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer in young women while providing support for high-risk individuals.
The band features Benjamin Rauhala, Matt Hinkley, Mairi Dorman-Phaneuf and Tim Keiper. Arrangements are by Kurt Crowley.
DeBose, who was a contestant on the reality television series "So You Think You Can Dance?," was also seen on Broadway as Nautica in Bring It On: The Musical. Click here to read her exclusive blog for Playbill.com about performing with both Broadway shows on this year's Tony Awards.
