Sarah Shaefer's The Gin Baby, Featuring Lesley Shires, Shyko Amos and Chris Stack, Opens at IRT Theater Jan. 24

The world premiere of Sarah Shaefer's drama The Gin Baby officially opens Jan. 24 at the IRT Theater following previews that began Jan. 19. 

Directed by Daniel Talbott, The Gin Baby runs through Feb. 2.

The cast includes Lesley Shires (Happy Birthday), Shyko Amos (Mamma Mia!), Charlotte Graham (Camelot), Maxwell Hamilton (Slipping), Chris Stack (Killers & Other Family), Jenny Seastone Stern (North Atlantic) and Jelena Stupljanin ("Cirkus Columbia").

"No longer able to self-medicate with alcohol and in a desperate search for escape, a young woman finds herself standing on the edge of the 1 train subway platform," press notes state. "She faces the train as it roars into the station, and then faces the consequences as she commits herself to a psych ward in one last attempt to commit to herself."



The creative team includes John McDermott (scenic design), Tristan Raines (costume design), Kia Rogers (lighting design), Janie Bullard (sound design), Kaitlyn Pietras (video and projection design) and Jack Doulin, CSA (casting director).
