Theatre Community and More React to Death of Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman

Members of the entertainment industry, including The LAByrinth Theatre Company, The Public Theater, Steve Martin, John Leguizamo, David Lindsay Abaire and more, have shared thoughts on the death of acclaimed Academy Award-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman.



The 46-year-old actor, who appeared on Broadway in Death of a Salesman and Long Day's Journey Into Night, died Feb. 2 at his Manhattan apartment. Read Hoffman's full obituary on Playbill.com here.

Hoffman's colleagues and contemporaries have shared their thoughts on his passing via social media.

The Labyrinth Theater Company, which was an artistic home for the actor, issued the following statement:

"We are heartbroken by the loss of our beloved friend, company member, and former artistic director, Philip Seymour Hoffman. His contributions to the Labyrinth family as an artist and mentor are immeasurable. We join everyone in mourning the passing of one of the great lights of our generation."
