Complete casting has been announced for the Transport Group's upcoming production of John Van Druten's I Remember Mama, which will begin previews at the Gym at Judson March 16 prior to an official opening March 30.
Helmed by artistic director Jack Cummings III, performances will continue through April 20.
I Remember Mama, according to press notes, "exposes the everyday tragedies and triumphs of one Norwegian immigrant family, determined to thrive, in San Francisco at the turn of the last century. Redefining family, time, and memory, Transport Group's production features a cast of ten veteran actresses who play all 23 roles. This reinterpretation of Van Druten's simple and honest story reveals how even the smallest and seemingly insignificant experiences of family life can silently accumulate and take our breath away."
The original production of I Remember Mama opened at Broadway’s Music Box Theatre Oct. 19, 1944, and ran for 713 performances. The cast featured Mady Christians, Oscar Homolka, Joan Tetzel and Marlon Brando, making his Broadway debut as Nels.
Show times will be Tuesday-Thursday at 7 PM, Friday at 8 PM, Saturday at 2 PM and 8 PM and Sunday at 3 PM.
The Gym at Judson is located at 243 Thompson Street at West 4th Street. Prices start at $49 for general admission, and $65 for premium reserved seating. To purchase single tickets or subscriptions, visit www.transportgroup.org or phone (866) 811-4111.
