Carrie Underwood Among Singers Set for CBS' "An All-Star Salute to the Troops"

Carrie Underwood, who played Maria in the recent live TV version of The Sound of Music, will be one of the many stars featured in "ACM Presents: An All-Star Salute to the Troops," which will be broadcast in May on CBS.



The evening, which will be taped April 7 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, will debut on CBS May 20 at 9 PM ET.

The two-hour special, a tribute to our Armed Forces, will also feature Merle Haggard, George Strait, Florida Georgia Line, Lady Antebellum and The Band Perry. Additional artists will be announced.

The concert, according to press notes, will "honor the country’s remarkable servicemen and women and include special moments and stories of incredible bravery and integrity."

“We are so thankful for all of the men and women in our armed forces and proud to present this fantastic night of performances in their honor,” said Bob Romeo, CEO of the Academy of Country Music, in a statement. “The special will be a remarkable moment in Academy history and continues the ‘ACM Presents’ TV specials that have been so successful over the years and helps to fund the important charitable work of ACM Lifting Lives.”

"An All-Star Salute to the Troops" is produced for television by dick clark productions. Allen Shapiro, Mike Mahan and R.A. Clark are executive producers. Barry Adelman is producer. Bob Romeo is executive producer for the Academy of Country Music.
