"You won't see a striped winter scarf in this production (or a sexy Santa suit for that matter) but you will hear every note of Jonathan Larson's passionate score performed by one of the most dynamic and talented casts and orchestras Gallery has assembled," said Gallery Players president and director Mark Harborth in an earlier statement.
The cast includes Dale Sampson as Mark, Isaac Matthews as Roger, Dwayne Washington as Collins, David Cronin as Angel, Tara Novie as Mimi, Kolton Bradley as Benny, Tunisia Renee as Joanne and Mara Jill Herman as Maureen.
Performances of the Equity Approved Showcase continue through May 18.
Other members of the creative team include music director Michael Hopewell, choreographer Elyse Daye Hart, associate choreographer Trey Mitchell (assisted by Lexi Mondot), set designer Jerry Mittelhauser, costume designer Joey Haws, lighting designer Scott Andrew Cally, sound designer Jacob Subotnick, properties designer Sara Slagle and production stage manager Kathleen Parker (assisted by Hilary Kolman and Elizabeth Ramsay).
A GalleryTalks talkback event, "Giving Rent its Due: Historicizing a Fictional 'La Vie Boheme' and the Real AIDS Epidemic," featuring guest scholar Virginia Anderson, will follow the April 27 performance.
The Gallery Players is located at 199 14th Street in Brooklyn. For more information and tickets, call (212) 352-3101 or visit GalleryPlayers.com.
