Mark Cuddy, producer of The Cape Playhouse, has announced initial casting for the historic theatre's 88th season in Dennis, MA. Six shows — a mix of comedies, dramas and musicals — starring several Broadway actors will be presented June 9-Aug. 30.
The season will kickoff June 9-21 with Neil Simon’s classic comedy The Odd Couple, starring Tony Award winner Michael McGrath as Oscar and Noah Racey as Felix. They will be joined by Jennifer Cody and Erin Lindsey Krom as the Pigeon sisters. John Miller-Stephany directs.
Mark St. Germain's Freud's Last Session, which will be directed by Skip Greer, will be presented June 23-July 5. The two-hander will feature character actor Kenneth Tigar ("Barney Miller,” "The Good Wife") as Sigmund Freud and Jonathan Crombie (national tour of The Drowsy Chaperone) as C. S. Lewis.
Bruce Jordan, co-creator of Sheer Madness, will direct Robin Hawdon’s British farce Perfect Wedding, which runs July 21-Aug. 2. The cast will include Kate Middleton as the chambermaid, Cary Donaldson as the groom, Tom Coiner as the best man Tom, Faith Sandberg as the bride Rachel and Kate Siepert as the mystery woman. The production is described as such: "An unsuspecting bridegroom awakens oh his wedding day with a brilliant hangover and an unknown woman in his bed. It's a race against time as he has to make up a plausible story before his fiancée and future mother-in-law arrive. Enter his Best Man and the chambermaid, as everyone is pulled into action."
Pump Boys and Dinettes, which is set in the Double Cupp Diner in North Carolina, will be offered Aug. 4-16. The cast will include Farah Alvin, Erin Maguire, Johnny Kinnaird, Nathan Dame and Jonathan Spivey.
The New England romance Almost, Maine, written by John Cariani and directed by Skip Greer, will conclude the season, playing Aug. 18-30. Four actors — Alexis McGuiness, Regan Thompson, Dave Mason and Ron Menzel — will play 20 characters.
