Presented by Bill Kenwright by special arrangement with the Really Useful Group, the touring production will begin performances Sept. 16 at the recently refurbished Dominion Theatre. Opening of the 55-performance run is scheduled for Sept. 22.
The cast of the sung-through musical will be headed by pop icon Marti Pellow as Che with newcomer Madalena Alberto in the title role.
Evita, according to press notes, "charts the story of Eva Peron, wife of former Argentine dictator Juan Peron, from her humble beginnings through to the extraordinary wealth, power and iconic status which ultimately led her to be heralded as the ‘spiritual leader of the nation."
The original London production made a star out of Elaine Paige, and the Broadway production did the same for Patti LuPone.
Performances will continue through Nov. 1.
Dominion Theatre is located at 268-269 Tottenham Court Rd. For tickets visit www.dominiontheatre.com.
