Didi Conn, who played Frenchy in the hit film "Grease," will once again host a Grease Sing-A-Long later this month at the Hollywood Bowl.
The Bowl will transform itself into the world's largest movie theatre July 13, and the evening will feature the famed Paramount Pictures film in full-screen Technicolor and six-track digital sound, complete with subtitles so the audience can sing along.
A pre-show will begin at 7:30 PM when the rock 'n roll doo-wop legends Sha Na Na will perform a live set followed by a short audience warm-up led by Conn. The screening of the film will begin at 8:30 PM.
Sha Na Na, cast in the movie as "Johnny Casino and the Gamblers," performed six songs on the "Grease" soundtrack, and the song "Sandy," sung by John Travolta, was co-written by Sha Na Na's piano man Screamin’ Scott Simon.
Sha Na Na features Jocko Marcellino, vocals/drums; Scott Simon, vocals/keyboard; Donny York, vocals; Tim Butler, bass/vocals; Ty Cox, drums; Randy Hill, guitar; and Michael Brown, saxophone.
Directed by Randal Kleiser and based on Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey's musical of the same name, "Grease" was released in 1978. The film was nominated for five Golden Globes and an Oscar, and was the winner of the People's Choice Award for Best Musical. The cast also included John Travolta, Olivia Newton-John, Stockard Channing and Jeff Conaway.
You're invited to spend an evening filled with personal tales of difficult choices, bad breaks, worse men and some of the most glorious songs ever written. It's an intimate evening, up close with a legend.
So pull up a chair and order up a drink. Because she's got a life to sing. Tickets as low as $85!
