Busch continues at the nightclub through July 12.
Here's how the event is billed: "The acclaimed actor/Tony-nominated playwright and drag legend returns to 54 Below with a show chock full of outrageous personal stories, original characters and classic songs; all performed with his own unique form of glamour. Charles Busch continues to delight and re-define his craft as a master humorist, entertainer and camp icon. The author of dozens of hit plays (Tale of the Allergists Wife, Die! Mommie! Die!, Psycho Beach Party, The Divine Sister & Vampire Lesbians of Sodom to name but a few), Busch is joined by his longtime musical director Tom Judson. Expect laughter, music, tears and sequins."
"I'm sincerely just loving my foray into cabaret over the past few years," Busch said in a previous statement. "I feel like I'm back in vaudeville. My musical director, Tom Judson, and I have traveling everywhere from New Orleans and Atlanta to Three Oaks, Michigan. During the next few months we'll be playing Feinstein's in San Francisco and the Copa Room in Palm Springs and now it looks like we're going to be doing our act in Rio and Paris, France!"
He wrote the book for the Broadway mounting of Taboo, and he also penned the screenplays for and starred in the films "Die, Mommie, Die" and "Psycho Beach Party." His noted plays include The Lady in Question, Red Scare on Sunset and the long-running Vampire Lesbians of Sodom. Busch's Off-Broadway appearances also include The Third Story and Die, Mommie, Die. He made his directorial film debut with "A Very Serious Person."
