Goodspeed Musicals celebrates the 50th anniversary of the award-winning musical Fiddler on the Roof with a new production that officially opens July 16 following previews that began June 27 at the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, CT.
Directed by Rob Ruggiero, the production was recently extended through Sept. 12.
The cast features Adam Heller as Tevye, Lori Wilner as Golde, Cheryl Stern as Yente/Grandma Tzeitel, David Perlman as Motel, Elizabeth DeRosa as Hodel, Barrie Kreinik as Tzeitel, Jen Brissman as Chava, Timothy Hassler as Fyedka, Abdiel Vivancos as Perchik, John Payonk as Lazar Wolf, Joy Del Valle as Shprintze and Allegra Rosa as Bielke with Matthew Amira, Will Burton, Max Chucker as the Fiddler, Michael J. "The story centers on Tevye, the father of five daughters, and his attempts to maintain his family and Jewish religious traditions while outside influences encroach upon their lives," according to press notes. "He must cope both with the strong-willed actions of his three older daughters—each one's choice of husband moves further away from the customs of his faith—and with the edict of the Tsar that evicts the Jews from their village."
The creative team also includes choreographer Parker Esse, scenic designer Michael Schweikardt, costume designer Alejo Vietti, lighting designer John Lasiter, sound designer Jay Hilton, music director Michael O’Flaherty, assistant music director F. Wade Russo and orchestrator Dan DeLange.
Fiddler on the Roof is produced for Goodspeed Musicals by Michael P. Price.
