Broadway Barks with Peters, Moore, Parker, Beach, Ebersole and Grey July 14

Broadway Barks, Bernadette Peters' and Mary Tyler Moore's annual effort to encourage New Yorkers to adopt pets from area shelters, has a starry line-up of animal lovers for the July 14 event. Among the participants are four 2001 Tony Award winners — The Producers' Cady Huffman and Gary Beach, Proof's Mary Louise Parker and 42nd Street's Christine Ebersole. Also set to help auction off cats and dogs for the benefit of humane shelters in New York City are Follies' Polly Bergen, theatre legend Joel Grey, King Hedley II's Leslie Uggams and "One Live to Live"'s Catherine Hickland.

This is the third Broadway Barks, which features both on-site adoption and an on-line auction, selling celebrity autographed items with the proceeds going to animal services and agencies. Represented in 2001 are A Cause for Paws, Animal Haven, ASPCA, BARC Shelter, Bide-a-Wee, CACC, City critters, The Humane Society of New York, Kitty King, Loving Touch, Manhattan Vaelly Cat Rescue, Pet-I-Care, PLUTO Rescue, SICAW and The Tigger Foundation.

Broadway Barks is held in Shubert Alley from 3:30 PM-6:30 PM. Shubert Alley is located between 44th and 45th Streets between Broadway and Eighth Avenue.
