Busy Bernadette: Peters Has Several TV Gigs: May 29, June 2, 6 & 9

28 May 2002

Two-time Tony winner Bernadette Peters will make several television appearances in the next few weeks.

Two-time Tony winner Bernadette Peters will make several television appearances in the next few weeks.

The former star of Annie Get Your Gun and Song & Dance will be a guest on CBS-TV's "Early Show" on Wednesday, May 29 where she will discuss her upcoming Radio City Music Hall concert debut (June 19) as well as her gig co-hosting "The 56th Annual Tony Awards." The Queens native will co host the Tonys with actor Gregory Hines, and the awards ceremony will be broadcast live on CBS at 9 PM ET (PBS begins the broadcast at 8 PM with "The First Ten Awards: Tony 2002").

On June 6 Peters — who recently received an Honorary Doctorate from Hofstra University — will appear on a previously taped but unaired episode of "The Rosie O'Donnell Show," which airs in the metropolitan area on ABC-TV at 10 AM ET. The actress-singer will sing "There Is Nothing Like a Dame," a song from her latest recording, "Bernadette Peters Loves Rodgers & Hammerstein." Then, on June 13, she will join Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa on "Live with Regis & Kelly," which also airs on ABC-TV (9 AM ET).

Between those two talk-show appearances, Peters can be seen in the made for-cable movie "Bobby's Girl," which will premiere on Showtime on June 9. Directed by Jeremy Paul Kagan, Peters plays Bailey Lewis in the drama, which co-stars Rachel Ward and Jonathan Silverman.

The actress, who has appeared on Broadway in On the Town, Mack & Mabel, Sunday in the Park with George, Into the Woods and The Goodbye Girl, is scheduled to return to Broadway next season in a revival of Gypsy directed by Sam Mendes.
