On Sunday, Aug. 4, Beauty and the Beast will become Broadway's eighth longest-running show.

When the Disney musical plays performance number 3,389, it will surpass the original production of Grease to become the eighth longest running show in Broadway history. More than three million people have seen the New York production of Beauty, which is currently playing the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Cats currently holds the record for the longest-running Broadway show; Les Misérables is second, having surpassed A Chorus Line on Jan. 25.

Featuring a score by Alan Menken, Tim Rice and the late Howard Ashman, Beauty currently stars Steve Blanchard as the Beast and Sarah Litzsinger as Belle. Others in the cast include Chris Hoch (Gaston), Beth Fowler (Mrs. Potts), Jeff Brooks (Cogsworth), Bryan Batt (Lumiere), J.B. Adams (Maurice), Pam Klinger (Babette), Mary Stout (Madame de la Grande Bouche) and Brad Aspel (Lefou). Zachary Grill and Nicholas Jonas alternate in the role of Chip. "Sopranos" star Jamie-Lynn Sigler will join the cast as Belle on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

Beauty and the Beast features a book by the author of the original screenplay, Linda Woolverton, and the musical was directed by Robert Jess Roth. Tickets may be purchased at the theatre's box office (205 W. 46th Street) or by calling (212) 307-4747.
