Oscar-Winner Martin Landau Stars in Long Wharf Premiere of Sixteen Wounded Feb. 5-March 16

Martin Landau, who won the Academy Award for portraying Bela Lugosi in "Ed Wood," will star in the world premiere of Eliam Kraiem's Sixteen Wounded at Connecticut's Long Wharf Theatre Feb. 5-March 16, 2003. Matthew August directs.

Set in modern Holland, Sixteen Wounded traces the unlikely friendship between the Jewish baker Hans (Landau) and his young Palestinian apprentice, Mahmude. Omar Metwally will play Mahmude with Mia Barron as Nora, Gretchen Becker as Gretta and Ed Setrakian as Saleem.

Landau most recently appeared on the silver screen in "The Majestic" opposite Jim Carrey. When he was in his twenties, Landau studied with Lee Strasberg's Actor's Studio, going on to perform on Broadway in Goat Song, Stalag 17, First Love, The Penguin and Middle of the Night. His performance in the latter's national tour led to a Hollywood career, which has included the films "North by Northwest," "The Greatest Story Every Told," "Cleopatra," "Tucker: A Man and His Dream" and "Crimes and Misdemeanors" and TV's "Mission: Impossible."

Single tickets to Long Wharf productions are $15-$45. For reservations and information, call (203) 787-4282. The Long Wharf Theatre is on the web at http://www.longwharf.org.
