Academy Award-winner Martin Landau stars in the world premiere of Eliam Kraiem's Sixteen Wounded at the Long Wharf Theatre, Feb. 5-March 16. Matt August directs.

Set in modern Holland, Sixteen Wounded traces the unlikely friendship between a Jewish baker (Landau) and his young Palestinian apprentice. Omar Metwally, Mia Barron, Gretchen Becker, Ed Setrakian, Jimi Egan, Bret A. Haines, Rebecka Jones and Ryan Evans Kessler also star in the first play by the rising scribe.

Landau, who won his Oscar for portraying Bela Lugosi in "Ed Wood," most recently appeared on the silver screen in "The Majestic" opposite Jim Carrey. When he was in his twenties, Landau studied with Lee Strasberg's Actor's Studio, going on to perform on Broadway in Goat Song, Stalag 17, First Love, The Penguin and Middle of the Night. His performance in the latter's national tour led to a Hollywood career, which has included the films "North by Northwest," "The Greatest Story Every Told," "Cleopatra," "Tucker: A Man and His Dream" and "Crimes and Misdemeanors" and TV's "Mission: Impossible."

The design team for Sixteen Wounded includes Nathan Heverin (set), Jennifer Von Mayrhauser (costumes), Pat Collins (lighting), and Bill Grady with Nick Borisjuk (sound). Gillian Lane-Plescia serves as dialect coach while Michelle Lynch handles choreography and fight direction.

Director August recently helmed Jump Rope at Next Stages in Boston.
