La Bohème Matinee Scuttled by Con Ed Problem March 26; Perfs Resume in Evening
By Kenneth Jones
26 Mar 2003
The March 26 matinee of Broadway's La Bohème was canceled shortly before curtain following a Consolidated Edison emergency that apparently involved a manhole explosion.
Buildings in the vicinity of the Broadway Theater were evacuated to keep on the safe side, about 1:50 PM. The evening performance of the Baz Luhrmann-directed staging of Puccini's opera will go on as usual, a spokesman said.
The box office remained open and is exchanging tickets for theatregoers who did not see today's performance.
