The Off-Broadway production of Jim Henry's new dramatic mystery 7th Monarch, starring Tony Award winner Michael Rupert, will end its run a month early on Aug. 12 at the Acorn Theatre.

Scott C. Embler (Bloodties, Stain) directs the production that began previews June 12 and officially opened June 24. It was originally scheduled to run through Sept. 9. It is produced by the Somerled Charitable Foundation.

Rupert (Legally Blonde, Sweet Charity) is joined by Michael Cullen (Bug), Gretchen Hall (Stick Fly), Leslie Hendrix ("Law & Order") and Matthew Humphreys (The Vertical Hour).

Here's how the play is characterized: "In 7th Monarch, Miriam, a math prodigy who was on the fast track to becoming an astronaut, mysteriously dropped out of college and has been living in seclusion with her parents for the past 20 years. When Raina, a criminal investigator, knocks on her door seeking the parents, Miriam offers an inconceivable explanation for their disappearance. Jarring discoveries are soon revealed as the two women struggle to overcome their own personal tragedies."

7th Monarch has scenic design by Shoko Kambara, costume design by D.W. Withrow, lighting design by D.M. Wood and sound design by David Pinkard.
