The acclaimed revival of Big River — now playing the American Airlines Theatre in a production directed and choreographed by Jeff Calhoun — is not the only Broadway production accessible to those with hearing loss.

Theatre Development Fund's Theatre Access Project (TAP) recently announced that six Broadway productions will present open-captioned performances this fall. Open-captioned performances feature the show's dialogue projected on a screen to one side of the stage.

The schedule of open-captioned performances follows:

Movin' Out at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, Sept. 3 at 8 PM
Gypsy at the Shubert Theatre, Sept. 10 and 24 at 8 PM
Take Me Out at the Walter Kerr Theatre, Oct. 1 and 2 at 8 PM
Urinetown at the Henry Miller, Oct. 11 at 2 PM and Oct. 15 at 8 PM
The Violet Hour at the Biltmore Theatre, Oct. 25 at 2 PM
Golda's Balcony at the Helen Hayes Theatre, Oct. 31 at 3 PM

Gypsy — starring two-time Tony Award winner Bernadette Peters — will also offer a sign-language interpreted performance of the Styne Laurents-Sondheim musical Sept. 17 at 8 PM. And, the new hit musical at the Golden Theatre, Avenue Q, will offer a sign-language interpreted show Sept. 13 at 8 PM.

TAP provides access to the performing arts for people with physical disabilities. The organization presented the first American Sign Language interpreted performance of a Broadway show in 1980 with the original production of The Elephant Man; the first open-captioned performance on Broadway was 1996's Barrymore.
