Powers to Host Star-Studded "Broadway Goes to the Movies" Nov. 1

Stefanie Powers will host an all-star benefit concert in for the William Holden Wildlife Foundation this fall.

On Nov. 1 the Emmy-nominated actress will host "Broadway Goes to the Movies" to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the famed foundation, which promotes animal conservation and habitat preservation in Africa. Among the stars scheduled to appear at the Los Angeles concert are Theodore Bikel, Ernest Borgnine, Barry Bostwick, Red Buttons, Carole Cook, Elliott Gould, Robert Goulet, Kelsey Grammer, George Hamilton, Sally Kellerman, Michele Lee, Shirley MacLaine, Rod McKuen, Roger Moore, Lorenzo Lamas, Freda Payne, Brock Peters, Valarie Pettiford, Roger Rees, Debbie Reynolds, Keely Smith, Patrick Swayze, Rip Taylor and Michael York. The performers will be backed by the Los Angeles Junior Philharmonic Orchestra.

"Broadway Goes to the Movies" will features songs from Broadway shows that eventually found their way to the silver screen. David Galligan will stage and direct the one-night-only event, which features musical direction by Gerald Sternbach.

Tickets — priced $50-$500 — for the 7:30 PM evening are available by calling (323) 656-9069 or by e-mailing WholdenWildlife@aol.com. The concert will be held at the Los Angeles International Cultural Center Theatre at 4357 Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angels, CA.
