Absurdist wordsmith Mac Wellman and his most frequent collaborator, director Jim Simpson, are together again for the Flea Theatre presentation of Wellman's Cellophane. The show begins performances Sept. 17 for a run through Oct. 18.
Cellophane sees Wellman playing around with language as usual. The play is described as "a spiritual history of America, [told] through the medium of Bad Language."
Simpson's has previously directed Wellman's Three Americanisms, Murder of Crows, Sincerity Forever, Strange Feet and Bad Penny. He directed the Flea's biggest hit to date, the 9/11-themed The Guys by Anne Nelson.
Tickets are $15. Shows begin at 8 PM. Call (212) 226-2407.
