Deborah Gibson to Release Broadway CD; Song List Announced

By Andrew Gans
14 Sep 2003

Deborah Gibson, who was most recently on Broadway as Sally Bowles in the Tony-winning revival of Cabaret, is currently putting the final touches on a new recording for Fynsworth Alley.

Gibson's currently untitled CD will be her first that salutes the music of Broadway. The former pop star will feature songs from musicals she has starred in—Les Miserables, Funny Girl, Gypsy, Cabaret—as well as those she has not: The Wild Party, Rags, The Rink, Flower Drum Song and The Boy from Oz. The CD — scheduled for an Oct. 28 release — will also include the song "Sex," a tune from Skirts, the musical the singer-actress is currently writing.

The complete song list for Gibson's upcoming Broadway CD follows. For more information, visit www.fynsworthalley.com.

"On My Own" from Les Miserables
"Who Are You Now?" from Funny Girl
"I'd Rather Leave While I'm In Love" from The Boy from Oz
"Raise The Roof!" from The Wild Party
"I'm The Greatest Star" from Funny Girl
"They All Laughed" from Shall We Dance
"Let Me Entertain You" from Gypsy
"Sex" from Skirts
"Blame It on the Summer Night" from Rags
"Colored Lights" from The Rink
"Anytime (I Am There)" from Elegies: A Song Cycle
"Maybe This Time" from Cabaret
"I Enjoy Being A Girl" from Flower Drum Song

After early pop success with such tunes as "Only In My Dreams" and "Lost in Your Eyes," Long Island native Gibson focused on the musical theatre, performing in the Broadway companies of Les Miz, Grease!, Cabaret and Beauty and the Beast as well as the national tours of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Funny Girl and Cinderella. Gibson also appeared in the North Shore Music Theatre’s production of Chicago and opposite Betty Buckley in the Paper Mill mounting of Gypsy.
