Blazer, Jacoby, Worley Headline On The Twentieth Century in San Jose, Oct. 31-Nov. 16

Broadway veterans Jo Anne Worley, Mark Jacoby and Judith Blazer will headline the American Musical Theatre of San Jose's staging of the Betty Comden, Adolph Green and Cy Coleman musical On The Twentieth Century at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts, Oct. 31-Nov. 16.

Based on a Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur play (which was based on a Charles Bruce Millholland play), the tuner focuses on a theatre producer trying to revive his failing career by signing a movie star for his next show. So, he hops on the luxury train called the Twentieth Century Limited, where she is aboard and the comedy takes off.

Worley, of "Laugh In" fame, has played on Broadway in Hello, Dolly! and Grease. Jacoby was recently seen in Man of La Mancha and has also appeared in Ragtime and Show Boat. Blazer was last seen on Broadway in 45 Seconds From Broadway and has performed in Titanic and Me and My Girl.

Marc Jacobs directs On The Twentieth Century with music direction by Craig Bohmler and choreography by Patti Colombo.

The San Jose cast also includes Noel Anthony, Deborah Ballesteros-Spake, Nathan Baynard, John Bridges, Adam Cates, Joe Duffy, Mike Earley, Tim Fournier, Darrin Glesser, Sean Grady, Matthew Hutchens, Tanya Johnson, Corrine Kason, Debra Lambert, Andrew Martinez, Craig Mason, Jennifer Oku, Paige Cook Perez, Steven Perez, Stephanie Rhoads, Lindsey Roebuck, Courter Simmons, Gia Solari-Welch, Edward Staudenmayer, Colin Thomson, Jamie Torcellini, Nicole Tung and Michael Ray Wisely.

On The Twentieth Century played on Broadway in 1978 starring Madeline Kahn, John Cullum, Kevin Kline and Imogene Coca. The production garnered nine Tony Award nominations, winning for Best Book (Comden and Green), Score (Coleman, Comden and Green), Actor (Cullum), Featured Actor (Kline) and Scenic Design (Robin Wagner).
