Joe Morton and Aunjanue Ellis Join Drowning Crow on Broadway

Complete casting has been announced for Drowning Crow, Regina Taylor's play about an artistic African-American family and their circle of friends and lovers, inspired by Chekhov's The Seagull.

The Broadway bow of the regionally-seen play will play Manhattan Theatre Club's Biltmore Theatre starting Jan. 29, 2004. Opening is Feb. 19. Marion McClinton directs.

Joining Alfre Woodard, who plays family matriarch, classical actress Josephine Nicholas Ark Trip, and Anthony Mackie as her son, performance artist Constantine Trip (aka C-Trip) are Aunjanue Ellis as aspiring actress Hannah Jordan, and Joe Morton as TV writer Robert Alexander Trigor.

Drowning Crow takes place on the Gullah Islands off the coast of modern-day South Carolina, "as a family of African-American artists comes together for a very momentous few days."

Designers are David Gallo (set), Paul Tazewell (costumes), Ken Billington (lighting), Dan Moses Schreier (sound), and video by Wendall K. Harrington.
