Rona Munro's Iron, seen at the Royal Court Theatre in London earlier this year, begins its American premiere run Oct. 2 at Manhattan Theatre Club's Off=Broadway Stage II.

John Curless, Jennifer Dundas, Lisa Emery and Susan Pourfar are featured in the drama, billed as "a haunting and emotional drama from one of Scotland's most thrilling new writers."

In it, "a young woman (Jennifer Dundas) resolves to see her mother (Lisa Emery) for the first time in 15 years hoping to remember her childhood and forge ahead with her life. Searingly honest and socially resonant, Iron takes you behind the bars of an all-women's prison and into the lives of two fascinating people."

The mother murdered her husband with a kitchen knife years earlier.

Designers are Mark Wendland (set and costumes), Kevin Adams (lighting) and Bruce Ellman (sound).

Dundas appeared in Broadway's Ah, Wilderness!, Emery appeared in Off-Broadway's Dinner With Friends.

Playwright Munro has written for stage, radio, film and television. Theatre includes Bold Girls (Evening Standard Award, Susan Smith Blackburn Award), The Maiden Stone (Peggy Ramsay Memorial Award) and Snake.

Opening night is Oct. 21. For ticket information, call CityTix at (212) 581-1212.

Also from MTC this fall are Richard Greenberg's The Violet Hour at the Biltmore Theatre (previews begin Oct. 16 for a Nov. 6 opening) and Neil Simon's Rose's Dilemma at City Center's Stage I (previews begin Nov. 20 for a Dec. 9 opening).
