Culled from the letters of the legendary blacklisted screenwriter, Trumbo tells the story of one of the "Hollywood Ten" who went before the House Un-American Activities Committee. After refusing to answer questions about his political affiliations, Trumbo was fired from MGM and imprisoned for a year. Peter Askin (Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Sexaholix... a love story) directs.
Dennehy won the Tony Award for his performance in Long Day's Journey Into Night. His other Broadway appearances include Translations and another Tony-winning turn in Death of a Salesman.
Lane began in the Christopher Trumbo homage to his father for this run at the Westside Theatre — where it ran earlier this year with a rotating cast of stars. The new open-ended Off Broadway engagement opened began Aug. 26 and opened Sept. 4.
Gore Vidal, who once was to replace Nathan Lane in this run, will play Nov. 11-16 and Charles Durning joins the list of stars for a Dec. 2-7 run. Gordon MacDonald, who currently reprises the show's other role of Narrator/Christopher will continue through Vidal's stint.
For tickets to the new run of Trumbo, at the Westside Theatre, 407 W. 43rd St., call (212) 239-6200 or click here.
