"Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" Star Joins Singular Sensations Line-Up

Sally Ann Howes, who starred as Truly Scrumptious in the 1968 film "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang," has joined the stellar line-up for Singular Sensations, the Broadway series set to debut Nov. 3 at the Village Theatre.

Hosted by Glen Roven, who will also accompany the performers on piano, the intimate evenings will feature interviews and performances by the line-up of theatre artists. Tony Award-winning Hello, Dolly! star Carol Channing kicks off the series, Nov. 3-9. Howes, who was last on Broadway in James Joyce's The Dead, will take part in the series Feb. 2-8. Glen Roven, who is also the artistic director of the series, began his career while in high school as a rehearsal pianist for Stephen Schwartz's Pippin. At 19 he became the conductor for Broadway's Sugar Babies, and since that time he has written, produced and conducted for such artists as Julie Andrews, Ray Charles, Natalie Cole, Placido Domingo, Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, Bob Hope, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Liza Minnelli, Patti LuPone, Bernadette Peters, Diana Ross, Lily Tomlin, Shirley MacLaine and Luther Vandross. He is also the recipient of four Emmy Awards.

Sally Ann Howes made her Broadway debut replacing Julie Andrews in the original production of My Fair Lady. Her other Broadway work includes roles in Kwamina, Brigadoon, What Makes Sammy Run? and James Joyce's The Dead. Her many screen credits include "Nicholas Nickleby," "Anna Karenina," "Fools Rush In," "Jane Eyre," "Brigadoon," "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang," "Death Ship" and "A Little Night Music."

Singular Sensations will play Mondays at 8 PM, Wednesday through Fridays at 8 PM, Saturdays at 2 and 8 PM and Sundays at 3 and 7 PM.
