Is Madhur Jaffrey Broadway Bound in Bombay Dreams?

Actress and gourmet chef Madhur Jaffrey may be part of the cast of the New York production of Bombay Dreams.
Rediff.com India Ltd. — which bills itself as "the premiere worldwide online provider of news, information, communication, entertainment and shopping services for Indians" — reports that Jaffrey has been offered the role of "bitchy columnist Kitty" in the Broadway production of Bombay Dreams. The article also says that Ayesha Dharker, who originated the role of Rani in the London company, will repeat her role in New York. A spokesperson for the production could not confirm the casting.
Produced in London by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Bombay Dreams will arrive at the Broadway Theatre in spring 2004. The musical — set in Bollywood and featuring a score by A R Rahman and Don Black — will begin previews March 29 with an official opening set for April 29.
Tony-winning book writer Thomas (The Producers, Hairspray) Meehan is collaborating with Meera Syal on a new book for the Broadway version of Bombay Dreams. Direction will be by Steven Pimlott (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) and choreography by Anthony Van Laast and Farah Khan. The production is designed by Mark Thompson with lighting by Hugh Vanstone and sound design by Mick Potter.
The author of several best-selling Indian cookbooks, Madhur Jaffrey is also an acclaimed actress. Her Broadway credits include Conduct Unbecoming and The Guide, and she has been seen on screen in "Parable," "Shakespeare-Wallah," "Antkeeper," "The Guru," "Autobiography of a Princess," "Heat and Dust," "The Assam Garden," "Saagar," "The Perfect Murder," "Vanya on 42nd Street," "ABCD," "Flawless" and "Cotton Mary."
