The highly anticipated and universally well reviewed Lincoln Center Theater production of Shakespeare's Henry IV opened at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre on Nov. 20.

Kevin Kline, in a rave-winning performance, leads the award winning cast including Ethan Hawke, Richard Easton, Michael Hayden, Dana Ivey, and Audra McDonald.

Actor Dakin Matthews, also featured in the production, has adapted Henry IV, Parts I and II into one evening, clocking in at nearly four hours. Five-time Tony nominee (and winner for Hairspray) Jack O'Brien directs the story of King Henry Bolingbroke and his son Hal, whose raucous dealings with Sir John Falstaff don't bode well for the future heir to the throne. A rebellion led by the fiesty Hotspur climaxes in a truly Shakespearean battle as Hal must shed off the immaturity of his youth and ascend to the leader of men.

At left, director Jack O'Brien and Kevin Kline, as well as Audra McDonald and Michael Hayden are seen arriving at Tavern on the Green at Cenral Park West and 67th Street, where they were joined by the creative team and other invited guests to celebrate the evening. Below, are Anne Kaufman Schneider, Richard Easton, and Meryl Streep.

Henry IV is directed by Jack O'Brien, with settings by Ralph Funicello, lights by Brian MacDevitt, costumes by Jess Goldstein, and music/sound by Mark Bennett. Lincoln Center Theater (Andre Bishop, artistic director) produces.
