Liev Schreiber, who was to be a part of the Broadway production of Donald Margulies' Sight Unseen, has withdrawn from the play. Variety reports that due to "a change of schedule on a prior commitment," the actor will no longer be able to appear in the drama.

It continues to be a difficult season for Manhattan Theatre Club. The famed theatre company lost several actors during rehearsals and previews of Richard Greenberg's The Violet Hour, and actress Mary Tyler Moore bolted Neil Simon's Rose's Dilemma after receiving a critical note from the playwright.

Schreiber was to star opposite Laura Linney and Byron Jennings in the Margulies work, which opens May 25 at MTC's new Broadway home, the Biltmore Theatre.

The industry paper also reports that casting for Schreiber's role — he was to play Jonathan Waxman — will begin immediately.

A star of stage and screen, Liev Schreiber's Broadway credits include In the Summer House and Betrayal.
