Stage and screen star Amy Irving will appear at the George Street Playhouse in the fall.

A spokesperson for the theatre confirmed that the actress will appear in a new play by Charles Evered. Irving will play the title role in Celadine, which concerns a woman in 1600's England who is a playwright but also a spy. Evered's Wilderness of Mirrors — also about a spy — kicked off the George Street's current season.

On Broadway Amy Irving has appeared in Amadeus, Heartbreak House, Broken Glass and Three Sisters. She received an Academy Award nomination for her performance in "Yentl," and her other screen credits include "Crossing Delancey," "A Show of Force," "I'm Not Rappaport," "Deconstructing Harry" and "Traffic."

The George Street Playhouse is located in New Jersey at 9 Livingston Avenue. Tickets for their productions are available by calling (732) 246 7717 or by visiting www.georgestplayhouse.org. The Playhouse will present Terrence McNally's Lips Together, Teeth Apart, Feb. 10-March 7.
