"Star Trek" and "Nanny" Stars Head Arthur Miller's Resurrection Blues in CA, March 20-April 25

By Ernio Hernandez

(From top) Blues Men: John de Lancie and Daniel Davis.

San Diego's Old Globe presents the west coast premiere of Arthur Miller's Resurrection Blues, starring John de Lancie ("Star Trek") and Daniel Davis ("The Nanny"), March 20-April 25.

Mark Lamos directs the work set to open in the Old Globe Theatre March 25.

Resurrection Blues is a satire set in a South American country where a messiah-like man threatens the rule of a general. The leader captures the dissident and sells the rights to his televised crucifixion to an American corporation.

The cast features John de Lancie (Q on "Star Trek") and Daniel Davis (Wrong Mountain,"The Nanny") with a company that includes Bruce Bohne, Chris Henry Coffey, Jennifer Regan and Dana Slamp.

The design team includes Riccardo Hernandez (scenic), York Kennedy (lighting), Lewis Brown (costume) and Paul Peterson (sound).

Director Lamos has teamed up with the Old Globe for Pentecost and Compleat Female Stage Beauty. Former artistic director of the Hartford Stage Company Lamos' credits include Peer Gynt, Our Country's Good, The Gershwin’s Fascinating Rhythm, The Deep Blue Sea, Tiny Alice, Thief River and The End of the Day.

Miller is considered one of America’s greatest playwrights, having won acclaim for his works which include The Man Who Had All the Luck, All My Sons, Death of a Salesman, The Crucible, A View from the Bridge, A Memory of Mondays, The Price, The Creation of the World and Other Business, The American Clock, The Ride Down Mt. Morgan, The Last Yankee and Broken Glass among others. His After the Fall is slated to make a return to Broadway this summer.
