Kermit, Pamela's First Musical, Rhythm Club Songs Play at My New York Benefit, March 29

Songs from the musicals Kermit, Prince of Denmark; Pamela's First Musical; Going Solo and The Rhythm Club will be featured in the Lark Theatre Company's benefit My New York, March 29.

Anne Jackson, Eli Wallach and David Henry Hwang will host My New York, a benefit performance of plays by young playwrights and songs that celebrate The Big Apple, at Lucille Lortel Theatre.

The Lark Play Development Center's present the show which include a cast of Broadway and television stars including Kerry Butler (Hairspray), Ray DeMattis (Little Shop of Horrors), Arthur French (Ma Rainey's Black Bottom), Jennifer Gambatese (Hairspray), Olivia Greer, Kathryn Grody (Scapino), Defne Halman, Katherine Hiler (The Kentucky Cycle), Daniel Jenkins (Big River), Marc Kudisch (Assassins), Christy Carlson Romano (Beauty and the Beast), Barbara Walsh (Hairspray), Frederick Weller (Take Me Out), Andrew Zutty and others.

Avenue Q composers-lyricists Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx penned the unproduced musical Kermit, Prince of Denmark before their Broadway success. A number from the show will be performed along with the songs "It Started with a Dream" from Pamela's First Musical (music by Cy Coleman, lyrics by David Zippel, book by Wendy Wasserstein), "Party of Five" from Going Solo (music by Ben Morss, words by Will Randal) and "Hello, New York" from The Rhythm Club (music by Matthew Sklar, lyrics by Chad Beguelin).

My New York will also features the plays Waiting Four, Lori's Bad Day and Five More Minutes by young playwrights Josh Cohen, Farah Hussain, and Mickey Pearlstein-Gluck — winners of the Lark's 2004 Youth Playwriting Awards.

Proceeds from the benefit will help support The Lark, a not-for-profit center for play and musical development, founded in 1994 by Producing Director John Clinton Eisner. The company formerly went by the name The Lark Theatre Company.

The presentation will play March 29 at 7 PM at the Lucille Lortel Theatre following free school performances March 23 and March 25 for 600 students.
