Vonnegut Appears at April 1 Performance of New York Staging of His Play Wanda June

By Robert Simonson
29 Mar 2004

Kurt Vonnegut Jr., the noted author of the novels "Slaughterhouse Five" and "Slapstick," will participate in a talk back at the April 1 opening of a New York City production of his play Happy Birthday, Wanda June.

Wanda June is being produced by The 7th Sign and Jeffrey Schulman Productions at the tiny Access Theatre (380 Broadway, fourth Floor, two blocks south of Canal Street). It will run April 1-18. The seldom seem work is Vonnegut's Broadway credit. It ran for 96 performances during the 1970-71 season. The production starred Marsha Mason, William Hickey and Kevin McCarthy.

The story is about a war hero's return home after the Vietnam War. The cast includes Daniel Deferrari, Jill Frutkin, Brian Hasthert, Andrew Kahrl, Liz Parker, Shannon Riley, James M. Saidy, Jake Thomas and Charlie Wilson.

Tickets $15. Call SmartTix (212) 868-4444 or buy online at www.SmartTix.com.
