T.R. Knight to Star as Boy in World Premiere Julia Jordan Play at Primary Stages

T.R. Knight stars as the title character in the upcoming Primary Stages world premiere of Julia Jordan's Boy, set to start Off-Broadway May 5.

The season closer for Primary Stages is set to open May 18 and run through June 27 at the company's space at 354 West 45th Street. The current production of The Stendhal Syndrome plays at the troupe's new home, 59E59.

The cast of Boy also features Kelly AuCoin (Copenhagen tour, Melissa Arctic), Robert Hogan (A Few Good Men, What Didn't Happen), Caitlin O'Connel (Mrs. Warren's Profession - Guthrie, Julius Caesar - Old Globe) and Miriam Shor (Book of Days, Hedwig and the Angry Inch). Joe Calarco (Shakespeare's R&J) directs.

The drama, Boy, focuses on two young men who are searching for their place in the world. The play received an honorable mention from the Susan Smith Blackburn Award committee in 2001.

The relatively-unknown Knight has recently gathered a number of supporting roles in prominent productions including the Broadway revivals of Noises Off opposite Richard Easton and Tartuffe opposite Brian Bedford as well as Off-Broadway's Scattergood opposite Brian Murray and in the short-lived sitcom "Charlie Lawrence" opposite Nathan Lane.

Director Calarco reteams with up-and-coming playwright Jordan on her latest work Boy. The director also helmed Jordan's Summer of the Swans at the Lucille Lortel Theatre.

The design team for Boy includes Michael Fagin (set), Anne Kennedy (costumes), Chris Lee (lighting) and Lindsay Jones (sound) — who also provides original music.

Jordan has witnessed three of her works on New York stages this season as the prolific up-and-comer's St. Scarlet played at The Ontological, Summer of the Swans at the Lucille Lortel and her Tatjana in Color ran at The Culture Project's 45 Bleecker Street Theatre.

Tickets to Boy at Primary Stages, 354 West 45th Street, go on sale shortly through the box office at (212) 333-4052. For more information on Primary Stages, visit www.primarystages.com.
