The just-announced Musicals Tonight! presentation of Empty-Handed — an evening of song by Avenue Q actors sans their puppet alteregos — has already sold out. An added performance is slated for June 21.

The first evening will play at The West 45th Street Theatre, June 14th at 8 PM. The newly-added performance will take place June 21 at 8 PM at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. Tickets ($25) can be reserved by calling Musicals Tonight at (212) 362-5620 or via email to musicalstonight@aol.com.

Tony Award nominees Stephanie D'Abruzzo and John Tartaglia joined by fellow Avenue Q resident Jen Barnhart will perform songs of Betty Comden and Adolf Green, Jules Styne, Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich, Tim Rice and Benny Andersson, William Finn and many others.

Empty-Handed is produced by Mel Miller and Musicals Tonight! Alan Muraoka ("Sesame Street") directs the show with musical direction by Gary Adler (Avenue Q), choreography by Jamie Harris and material written by D'Abruzzo and Craig Shemin. Stephen DeAngelis is credited with the original concept.

Performances of Empty-Handed will play at The West 45th Street Theatre, 354 W. 45th St. (between 8th and 9th Ave.) and at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, 121 Christopher Street (at Bedford St.).

Avenue Q was honored with six Tony Award nominations for creators Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx (composers/lyricists), Jeff Whitty (bookwriter), Jason Moore (director), stars John Tartaglia and Stephanie D'Abruzzo as well as for the top prize of Best Musical.

The new musical sends up popular children's television shows such as "Sesame Street" and "The Electric Company," while serving up a bounty of pop culture references and solving the mystery of the whereabouts of former "Diff'rent Strokes" child star Gary Coleman. The production bears the warning: "Full puppet nudity, not suitable for children."

Avenue Q is presented on Broadway by Kevin McCollum, Robyn Goodman, Jeffrey Seller, Vineyard Theatre and The New Group.

Avenue Q plays at the Golden Theatre, 252 West 45 Street. For more information, visit www.avenueq.com.
