Lisa Kron Joins Cast of The Normal Heart

Lisa Kron will replace Joanna Gleason in the Worth Street Theatre Company's production of Larry Kramer's The Normal Heart starting June 15.

The show went on hiatus for two weeks beginning June 1. Gleason has accepted a part in the new Broadway-bound musical Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

Kron recently finished a run in her own play at The Public, Well.

The Normal Heart will run through August. "After that, we'll see. There is a Broadway house being offered for the fall," the play's star Raul Esparza told Playbill On-Line May 12.

Esparza was recently nominated for a Tony Award for his role in Broadway's Taboo.

Directed by David Esbjornson, Normal Heart opened April 21, the same day the original production opened at The Public Theater nearly 20 years ago.

This staging received a Drama Desk Award nomination for Best Revival of a Play and four Drama League nominations, including a nomination for Distinguished Revival of a Play.

The cast also includes Richard Bekins, Fred Berman, McCaleb Burnett, Mark Dobies, Jay Russell, Billy Warlock and Paul Whitthorne.
