Sight Unseen Extended to July 25 at Biltmore Theatre

By Kenneth Jones
15 Jun 2004

Sight Unseen, critically acclaimed more than 10 years ago at Manhattan Theatre Club Off-Broadway, is once again embraced — but in its MTC Broadway debut. Good business and encouraging notices have prompted an extension to July 25.

The Donald Margulies play was to end its scheduled run July 11. Laura Linney's film schedule and other cast commitments will prevent a further extension beyond the two added weeks.

Performances play MTC's Broadway home, the Biltmore Theatre at 261 West 47th Street.

Daniel Sullivan directs Byron Jennings, Laura Linney, Ana Reeder and Ben Shenkman in the drama about a hot artist (played by Shenkman) looking back on his life and recalling a major muse/love (played by Linney). Sight Unseen opened May 25 as the first play of the 2004 05 Broadway season.

Sight Unseen was first presented Off-Broadway by Manhattan Theatre Club on Jan. 7, 1992, and it won the Obie Award for Best New American Play, was nominated for a Drama Desk Award, and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.

Performances through June 20 are Tuesday through Friday at 8 PM, Saturday at 2 PM and 8 PM and Sunday at 2 PM and 7 PM. Starting June 22, performances are Tuesday through Saturday at 8 PM, with matinees Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 2 PM. There will be no Wednesday matinees on July 14 or 21.

Tickets ($26-$81) are available by calling TeleCharge.com at (212) 239-6200.
