Angels in America Tony Award winner Stephen Spinella and recent Life x 3 star John Turturro will appear in the upcoming "souls at war" season for Theatre for a New Audience, which will include Svejk, Coriolanus and Souls of Naples.

Colin Teevan pens a new adaptation of Jaroslav Hasek's The Good Soldier Svejk and His Fortunes in the Great War, simply titled Svejk for the North American debut of the work. Dalia Ibelhauptaite directs Stephen Spinella as the title character in the work set to start Nov. 6 and open Nov. 14 at The Duke on 42nd Street.

Spinella earned his Tony for his Broadway debut in Angels in America: Millennium Approaches and Angels in America: Perestroika. Other Broadway credits include A View from the Bridge, Electra, James Joyce's The Dead and the recent revival of Our Town.

Karin Coonrod — who last staged Shakespeare's Julius Caesar for TFANA — returns to the New York troupe to tackle direction for the Bard's Coriolanus. The Rome-set war drama will begin previews Feb. 5, 2005, and open Feb. 13 the new 37 ARTS Theatre in midtown Manhattan.

Michael Feingold pens the new translation of Eduardo De Filippo's Souls of Naples for its New York premiere in the TFANA season. Roman Paska directs John Turturro in the work slated for an April 2 start and an April 10 opening at The Duke.

Turturro starred opposite Helen Hunt in the Broadway staging of Yasmina Reza's Life x 3. He is known for his film work in "Oh, Brother, Where Art Thou?," "Barton Fink" and "Quiz Show." As a director, he is in post-production on his movie musical "Romance & Cigarettes" starring James Gandolfini, Susan Sarandon, Kate Winslet, Steve Buscemi, Christopher Walken, Mandy Moore, Aida Turturro, Mary-Louise Parker, Eddie Izzard, Elaine Stritch, Cady Huffman, Tonya Pinkins, Bobby Cannavale and Amy Sedaris among others.

Last season, Theatre for a New Audience presented the W.S. Gilbert farce Engaged, The Last Letter adapted and directed by Frederick Wiseman and Shakespeare's Pericles directed by Bartlett Sher.

Subscriptions for the upcoming TFANA season will be available Sept. 1 by calling (212) 229-2819 ext. 0. Single tickets for Svejk and Souls of Naples can be purchased (Sept. 1) at (212) 239-6200.
