Brooklyn the Musical, the new work by Mark Schoenfeld and Barri McPherson about street singers in New York City, is now in rehearsals toward an Oct. 26 opening night.
The cast features such names as Eden Espinosa (Wicked), Kevin Anderson (Death of a Salesman), Cleavant Derricks (Dreamgirls), Ramona Keller (Caroline, or Change), and Karen Olivo (Rent).
The production is directed by Jeff Calhoun and produced by Calhoun and music supervisor John McDaniel. A special open-rehearsal press preview was presented Sept. 9 in Manhattan.
