Lynn Redgrave to Perform Nightingale Oct. 7

By Andrew Gans
30 Sep 2004

Award-winning actress Lynn Redgrave will star in the Oct. 7 reading of her new one-woman play for the Food for Thought reading series.

Redgrave will perform Nightingale — based on the life of her maternal grandmother — at 12:30 PM at The National Arts Club. The afternoon, which includes a buffet lunch, will also feature a reunion of the stars of the Off Broadway play Talking Heads: Redgrave, Kathleen Chalfant, Christine Ebersole and Frances Sternhagen will all be on hand to offer excerpts from their respective monologues. The cast will then present a playwriting fellowship in their names to a local student.

A two-time Tony Award nominee for her performances in Mrs. Warren’s Profession and Shakespeare for My Father, Lynn Redgrave has also starred on Broadway in Moon Over Buffalo, The Master Builder, A Little Hotel on the Side, Love Letters, Sweet Sue, Aren’t We All?, Saint Joan, Knock Knock, My Fat Friend and Black Comedy/White Lies. Equally at home on screen, Redgrave received Academy Award nominations for her work in “Gods and Monsters” and “Georgy Girl.”

Food for Thought Lunch Hour Theatre — run by artistic director Susan Charlotte — plays the National Arts Club, located in Manhattan at 15 Gramercy Park South. Tickets, priced at $47-50, include the one-act play reading, a question-and-answer session and lunch. Call (212) 362-2560 for reservations; for more information, visit www.foodforthoughtproductions.com.
