Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, an Old Globe Hit, Gets Final Extension in San Diego Prior to Broadway

By Kenneth Jones
30 Sep 2004

Due to popular demand, The Old Globe in San Diego is extending the world premiere run of the new Broadway- bound musical Dirty Rotten Scoundrels one last time, to Nov. 7.

The musical based on the film of the same name stars Norbert Leo Butz and John Lithgow as con men on the French Riviera. The book is by Jeffrey Lane, with music and lyrics by David Yazbek (The Full Monty). Director Jack O'Brien is fine-tuning the show toward its 2005 Broadway bow. Jerry Mitchell choreographs.

Previews begin Jan. 31 at the Imperial Theatre on Broadway.

Tickets are available by subscription or individually by calling (619) 23-GLOBE, by visiting the Globe box office in Balboa Park, or via the web at www.TheOldGlobe.org.

The cast of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels includes Sherie Rene Scott, Joanna Gleason, Gregory Jbara and Sara Gettelfinger. Ted Sperling is music director.
