AUDELCO (Audience Development Committee) is a non profit organization established in 1973 to generate recognition, understanding and awareness of arts in the African-American communities. The awards focus on New York-area theatre.
The award ceremony will be held Nov. 15 at the Aaron Davis Hall, West 135th and Convent Avenue in Harlem. Tickets are $25, $50 and $100 and are currently available at the Aaron Davis Hall box office at (212) 650-7148.
Playwright Lynn Nottage is nominated twice in the Playwright category for Intimate Apparel and Fabulation, which each had Off-Broadway stagings in 2004. Viola Davis was nommed playing the lead in Intimate Apparel, and Charlayne Woodward for playing the lead in Fabulation (the plays are thematically linked, the playwright has said).
