After mixed reviews on its London opening, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Woman in White is having an upturn in fortunes. Not only is the box office healthy, as previously reported, but the song “I Believe in My Heart” has reached number two in the U.K. pop charts.

The single has been recorded by pop stars Duncan James and Keedie. The full London cast recording comes out in the U.K. in mid-November. Meanwhile, talks are ongoing for the show to go to the U.S., and several Broadway producers are interested.

The show continues at the Palace Theatre. The cast includes Michael Crawford as Count Fosco and Maria Friedman as Marian Halcombe. Martin Crewes plays Walter Hartwright, Angela Christian is Anne Catherick (the woman in white), Oliver Darley plays Sir Percival Glyde, Jill Paice is Laura Fairlie and Edward Petherbridge is Mr. Fairlie.

The book by Wilkie Collins was adapted by Charlotte Jones and lyricist David Zippel, with music by Lloyd Webber. The London production is directed by Trevor Nunn, with projection-led designs by William Dudley, lighting by Paul Pyant and sound by Mick Potter. Dance and movement is by Wayne McGregor and musical supervision by Simon Lee. Sonia Friedman produces.
