Michael Frayn and Michael Blakemore, the playwright and director of Democracy, will discuss the new politically themed play Nov. 14 at the Ars Nova Theater.

Frayn and Blakemore will be interviewed by drama critic David Finkle, and are expected to discuss their creative methods and their careers. The duo have collaborated on several Frayn plays, including Benefactors, Noises Off and Copenhagen. Their latest collaboration, Democracy, is set to open on Broadway Nov. 18 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre and concerns the life of German chancellor Willy Brandt. Democracy, which co-stars James Naughton and Richard Thomas, premiered last season London's Royal National Theatre.
A playwright, novelist and translator, Michael Frayn penned the plays Alphabetical Order, Copenhagen, Clouds, Donkeys' Years, Make or Break, Noises Off and Benefactors. Copenhagen won the 1998 Evening Standard Award and the 2000 Tony Award for Best Play. Frayn's novels include "The Tin Men," "The Russian Interpreter" and "A Landing on the Sun."
Michael Blakemore won Tony Awards for his direction of Copenhagen and Kiss Me, Kate. He was also Tony-nominated for Best Direction for his work on Joe Egg, Noises Off, City of Angels, Lettice and Lovage and The Life.
